WHY USE SENIORSWORK.NET ? WHY NOT JUST USE BIG NATIONAL MEGA JOB BOARDS?

National mega-boards are huge, well-respected, and very efficient national job boards with massive databases of job listings by thousands of companies. SeniorsWork has a direct link to them on our site on every state's page, and they are a valuable resource to use as part of a comprehensive job search.

However, they charge fees to employers to list job openings, and also charge fees to employers to search for and view resumes uploaded to and stored on their sites. Some of these fees are fairly expensive. Because of this cost factor, not all of the employers in your area will have job openings posted on large national job boards. Instead, many of your local employers will still use only the less expensive local and more traditional advertising resources. For this reason, you would be wise to use all of your local, state, and other public and private sector resources and not limit your searches to mega job boards only.

WHAT'S BEHIND SENIORSWORK.NET?

SeniorsWork evolved from an awareness of the increasing number of unemployed senior workers being added to the unemployment lines each month. Considering the number of senior workers being added to that list, the state of Social Security, and today's erosion of millions of dollars in personal retirement funds, it's apparent that a substantial number of senior workers may have to continue working into their retirement years for a considerable length of time to come. For more information, refer to our About Us page.

CAN OTHERS, ASIDE FROM SENIOR WORKERS, USE THESE RESOURCES?

Yes. Although the structure and intent of this site and these resources are aimed at assisting senior workers, the links and resources presented on this site are available and can be used by anyone.

ALL of the resources and links found on SeniorsWork are termed "freely available" on the internet. That is to mean that ALL of the resources assembled here are freely available without charge to anyone searching the internet....IF you are willing to dedicate literally thousands of hours trying to find, track, and compile them. SeniorsWork has gone to considerable effort and expense to research them, collect them, compile them, and present them in one website to aid and expedite your search.

I DON'T SEE MY TOWN IN MY STATE'S LIST. WHY?

The appearance of certain cities, towns, and counties presented under each state is based on population distributions for metropolitan and micropolitan areas as developed by and according to the United States Bureau of the Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and other population studies. Therefore, you may see certain metro areas combined with one another, yet find that some smaller towns which you might expect to see listed are left out. SeniorsWork will continue to expand the list of available cities and towns under each state by adding even more through research to find more incorporated communities not included in the original government studies. The list of cities and towns is continually being researched and expanded.

WHY DOES MY CITY INCLUDE A COUNTY FROM AN ADJACENT STATE?

Because some cities, especially in northeastern states and larger metro areas, have cities whose boundaries are not confined to one county and overlap into multiple counties and in some cases to other states. Therefore and depending on your area, you may see multiple counties for your area and may possibly even see a county in an adjacent state listed for your city.

DOES MY COUNTY LIST OPEN AND AVAILABLE JOBS?

Yes, most do. And it's frequently an overlooked local resource for employment close to your home. Counties offer a wide range of various jobs from engineers to elevator inspectors and shouldn't be excluded from your job search. And, depending on the state and county, most offer various types of govenment benefits. NOTE: Unfortunately and depending on the size, sophistication, and type of county government, some don't offer their residents direct links to available jobs. In those cases, and indirect link was used.

HOW SOON CAN I FIND A JOB OFF THE INTERNET?

Using the internet to search job openings is only PART of the work search process. The fastest and best chance of quickly securing your next job will come from your own serious and dedicated work search using networking and other methods at your disposal, your own serious efforts at following-up on your leads, and finally from face-to-face interviews with a hiring authority. Quite honestly, it is a serious mistake to rely solely on your resume submissions from this site or any site to get your next job. Statistically speaking, only 5% of jobs are secured from relying on the internet ONLY. Your work search MUST be proactive and include various methods and resources.

SeniorsWork is a "tool" for you to use to get your resume into the hands of as many hiring managers in your field of expertise as you can, thereby statistically enhancing your chances of finding your next suitable job opening quickly and securing the interview from which you, hopefully, will hear the words "YOU'RE HIRED". SeniorsWork is an immense library of sites organized by where you live outward to help you focus your job search according to your area. Many reputable sites are presented here. Yet not a single one of them could or would "promise" you a job merely by using their site. In short order, you should be able to find dozens of valid jobs here for you to pursue. Nonetheless, your results will be only as valid as the willingness, dedication and effort you put in to your job search here. The rest is solely up to you, and you should be wary of any site that "promises" you a job based solely on submitting a resume.

WHY CAN'T I UPLOAD MY RESUME?

SeniorsWork is not a resume bank. You likely have your resume stored on your computer, tablet, phone, or flash drive ready and available to revise and upload at will. It's your personal information and this way will remain under your control and safeguarded.
